Pemra Alert Channels of broadcast “propaganda” against state

ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) published new directives, warning all satellite TV channels about the lawsuit for or promote campaign or spreading false information and misinformation against state institutions.

According to Pemra, there is a trend on satellite TV channels, some of their anchors and analysts dabbled in dissemination of false information and disinformation against state institutions.

In his directive media-regulatory body stressed that “this trend on TV channels are tantamount to slander against government institutions and is a systematic propaganda campaign against them.”

It’s called winding of such content “violation” of directives issued by Pemra.

media Watchdog has asked all satellite TV licensees to follow principles laid down down in constitution and ensure strict observance with relevant provisions of Laws of Pemra.

Last month, senior journalist and Express News presenter Imran Riaz Khan, the loudest critic of Decree coalition was arrested at Islamabad toll plaza despite fact what the court has already gave him pre-arrest pledge.

Imran Riaz was involved in murder of cases which he said were motivated by his refusal to “stop talking truth”.
