BEIJING: Pakistani Ambassador to China Moin ul-Haq said Islamabad strongly believes in “one China” policy and support all efforts of neighboring country in protection of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In an interview with Global Times, the ambassador said Pakistan will continue to expand full support to your hardware brother”when answering a question on US Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan and China’s retaliatory measures.
“Within the boundaries of international law, every country has the right to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said, adding that in in the same vein, Pakistan supports all efforts of Chinese government in protecting one’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He also stressed the importance of adherence to the principles of UN charter, international law and bilateral agreements.
“Interstate relations should be based on mutual respect and non-interference in interior affairs,” he said.
Pelosi has arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday, defying the rope of increasingly harsh warnings and threats from China, which have sparked tensions between the world’s two superpowers soared.
The visit is treated as a serious violation of in one-Chinese principle. On Friday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced eight countermeasures in response.
During the interview, the ambassador said that Pakistan and China have always stood shoulder to shoulder. with each other through many challenges.

He argued that Pakistan opposes any attempt to “create two Chinas; one China, one Taiwan; or Taiwanese independence.
