Pakistan: Punjab CM Parvez Elahi wins trust vote

In the midnight drama in Punjab Assembly of Pakistan, Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi managed to get vote of confidence Paving way for its dissolution on in wish of pushed out prime minister Imran Khan.

Punjab Governor Baligur Rehman of PMLN sought vote of confidence from CM Elahi last month in proposal to stop the dissolution of Assembly. He de-notified Elahi and his cabinet. for disobeying his order. However, the Lahore High Court restored Elahi and his office.

A hearing was held at LHC on Wednesday in in this case, and noticed that the chief minister would have to trust vote.

in light of court remark, Elahi provided required 186 votes from Punjab Assembly in current session at 1:00 a.m. Thursday amid opposition protests.

The speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Sibtein Khan, presided. over in session and said CM Elahi got 186 votes required gain confidence vote.

The opposition led by the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) boycotted session and announced challenging trust vote procedure in court.

Federal Home Minister Rana Sanaullah said the Punjab Assembly session against in rules Constitution and opposition challenge them in TANK. He said CM Elahi received 181 votes but showed it as 186. “We will prove This is a fraud in court,” he said.

Elahi called the assurance of trust vote victory of Vision of Imran Khan. He asked the opposition to “come to terms with defeat with dignity.”

Conversation with journalists outside assembly, PTI senior leader Fawad Chaudhry said: “CM Elahi will send advice to the governor for dissolution of Assembly on in direction of Imran Khan. This advice can be sent to the governor today, if there are no obstacles, because of judicial sitting”.

Fawad said that Elahi would withdraw his petition from the high court regarding the governor’s order. He said the assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), where Imran Khan’s Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf has the government’s will also be dissolved.

Khan has already said he wants dissolve assemblies of Punjab and KP to push through the PMLN-led federal government to call instant polls. Khan said only fresh polls can rule the country out of economic crisis.
