Pakistan grants India extended delivery time for wheat, life-saving medicines to Afghanistan via wagah border

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan grants extension to India for Transportation of wheat and essential medicines to Afghanistan via Pakistan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson in statement.

Pakistan on Sunday granted extension to India in “time period for transportation” of wheat and vital medicines that New Delhi was transporting to Afghanistan. via Wagah border.

The representative said that in November 2021 Islamabad “approved as special gesture to the Afghan people of 50,000 MT of wheat and life-saving drugs as humanitarian aid from India to Afghanistan via Wagah border. The gesture has been given on “exclusive basis for humanitarian purposes.”

“The deadline given for transport of humanitarian aid expired on March 21, 2022 Government of India has recently requested for extension in period of time before complete transport process,” the spokesman said.

Representatives said Islamabad granted a two-month grace period to facilitate transportation “as a demonstration”. of his “sincere efforts to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan”.

Green light to transport Indian wheat to Afghanistan via Pakistan was granted former prime minister Imran Khan last year when Afghan Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaki arrived in Islamabad.
