Opposition submits no-confidence motion against CM Elahi in Punjab Assembly – Pakistan

A few days before the planned dissolution of PTI of provincial assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, delegation of PPP and PML-N legislators presented on Monday night no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Pervez Elahi in Punjab Assembly (Punjab).

Opposition MPs, including PPP parliament leader Hassan Murtaza, Khawaja Imran Nazir of PML-N, Chief Whip of PML-N Tahir Khalil Sindhu and others approached the secretariat of the Punjab Assembly and submitted a motion of no confidence at 21:35.

He was officially received by the Secretary of the Punjab Assembly, Inayat Hussein Lak.

Document submitted by the opposition, copy of which available with Dawn.comstated that “members of PPS and PML-N of provincial assembly lost confidence in CM Pervez Elahi ability to lead in house according to the Constitution.”

This added that Elahi “destroyed democratic traditions” and thus lost confidence of majority of members of in house.

Nazir from PML-N, in Interview with Ahri News after the show said no-confidence proposal has been submitted against Chief ministerspeaker of the PA and deputy speaker.

He said there were signatures. of “about 150 members”, and there were more members from outside Lahore.

“After consultations with constitutional experts, constitutional and legal action has been taken and we are fully confident,” Nazir. added.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rana Sanaulla, in Interview with journalist Shahzeb Khanzada on Geo Newssaid that if the boss minister wanted to dissolve assembly was needed for him to have his confidence.

Governor of Punjab asks Elahi to look for vote of confidence

Immediately after the resolution was presented, Punjab Governor Balig ur Rehman instructed Elahi to seek vote of confidence from the collection on 21 December.

The order emphasized that the aforementioned differences became apparent after the appointment of a member of the PTI, namely Hayal Ahmed, to the provincial assembly without the knowledge of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

This added that the latest evidence of the “crack between the ruling alliance” was the resignation of cabinet minister after he is engaged in “verbal skirmish” with Elahi.

“Main minister declared in TV program on Dec 4 that he is not going to dissolve provincial assembly until March 2023, a position that is completely contrary to with PTI public opinion on in issue”.
