Mobile games revenue increased again in the past quarter

In the second quarter of 2021, more was spent on mobile games than the same period last year. That reports the platform App Annie.

According to the platform , users spent $1.7 billion per week on mobile games in Q2 2021, an increase of 200 million compared to the same period in 2020. The number of downloaded apps remained around the 1 billion per week.

Since the corona pandemic, spending on mobile games has risen sharply, currently about 35 percent compared to 2019. most successful games were Roblox, platformer Uma Musume Pretty Derby and PUBG Mobile. “The second quarter of 2021 proved two things: mobile behavior has been catalyzed in the last twelve months of the pandemic and concerns our new normal. That fuels a growing mobile economy – with quarterly numbers continuing to break records,” says App Annie.

Spending on mobile apps in general broke 34 billion a new record in the second quarter. Most of the spending took place in games.
