Miss Har is calling for D-8 Focal Point for Enhanced Economic Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar on Wednesday called for creating “Private Sector Coordination Mechanism” to enhance economic cooperation among the eight developing countries (D-8) countries.

MoS performed virtually at the 20th session of Tip D-8 of foreign ministers, hosted Bangladesh in hybrid format, the foreign ministry said.

Called the Mins for creating favorable environment for trade through favorable legal frameworks and equal opportunities for investment and business.

She stressed that Pakistan’s vision of geo-economics had a socio-economic growth connection and development at its core.

Through the collaboration and partnership of D-8 countries can implement their true economic potential.

Khar emphasized that Pakistan location provided critical land and sea communications with key regions of Asia – Central Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and China are made Pakistan is one of the most important states in geopolitical terms in in world.

“We were confident that through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), this geopolitical asset will quickly turn into a geo-economic dividend,” she stressed.

Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh, in his powers as Chairman of advice of ministers chaired over meeting. Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and Iran, Minister of State of Nigeria along with senior officials from Egypt, Indonesia and Malaysia, also participated in meeting.

Council meeting was preceded by the 45th session of The D-8 Commission, which adopted series of main decisions building on in progress achieved.

One of in key decisions adopted by the Council was to fully implement the Preferential Trade Agreement by October 31, 2022. with a view to reach inside-D-8 trade goal of US$500 billion agreed as part of the Roadmap of the Decade for 2020-2030.
