Francesco Bagnaia has the best time of the two days of testing
Miguel Oliveira finished the first round of MotoGP tests for 2022 with 16th place combined after the second day at the Circuito de Jerez.
The Portuguese KTM rider had his best time of the two days of tests with a record of 1m38,085 on the sixth of 34 laps performed this Friday Thursday, when he was the 14th fastest – against 1’38.312 on eve .
“There were two days of testing with difficult conditions. We always had the track with a lot of wind. So, the advances we had on the bike in some parts didn’t translate into lap times, but at least in sensation and data, we noticed some improvements. The factory now has a lot of work ahead of it to give us a better bike”, referred Falcão in statements to his press office conveyed by Lusa.
Miguel Oliveira ended up being 1,213 seconds behind the fastest driver in the tests, who was Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), the only one to run in the ‘second 36’ at Jerez with a time of 1m36.872 (taking half a second off best weather on Thursday).
World champion, Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), was the second fastest in the tests at 0.452s off Bagnaia.
Miguel Oliveira guarantees that he has “very clear” what the team “needs to improve for the next season”, so “this month of December will be important” for the factory to move forward with the necessary improvements: “We are looking to the future so that in February we start working with a more competitive bike”, concluded.
