Mahmoud Moulvi of PTI wins poll NA-245

KARACHI: PTI’s Mahmoud Moulvi defeated MQM-P’s Moid Anwar to retain his NA-245 spot, unofficial revealed results of additional poll.

Moulvi received 29,475 votes after the completion of the counting of votes in 263 polling stations. Moid Anwar from MQM-P stayed second with 13 193 votes. Voter turnout in constituency was 11.8%, Electoral Commission of Pakistan shared.

The seat was left vacant after Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain of PTI death in June.

‘Karachi chooses who it costs with’

“It was a difficult competition. It was raining heavily,” he said, adding that despite the fact that all city is struggling with disasters caused by rain and floods, people arrived at vote at the polling stations.

Previously, PTI candidate Mahmoud Moulvi led the NA-245 supplementary poll. with 28 405 votes according to unofficial results from 250 polling stations.

MQP-P candidate Moid Anwar ran second with 12,300 votesFollowed by Muhammad Ahmed Raza of TLP who secured 9002 votes.

Former MQM leader Farouk Sattar only managed to garner 3,313 votes. votes earlier while PSP’s Syed Hafizuddin received 1041 votes.

Vote for additional polls in constituency NA-245 ended at 17:00, after which the count of votes began.

Pre-Poll Voting on The decisive Karachi constituency NA-245 began at 8 am. on Sunday morning ended at 5:00 pm with 15 candidates in in run for sacred place.

Contending candidates included Muid Anwar of MQM-P, Mehmood Maulvi of PTI, Syed Hafizud Deen of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP), Mohammed Ahmed Raza of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and Farooq Sattar of Bahali’s MQM Committee as Independent candidate.

Strict security at polling stations

Election Committee of Pakistan (ECP) said it has completed preparations for additional NA-245 surveys. in Karachi under tight security.

selective body stated that 263 polling stations were set up, of of which 60 were declared sensitive and 203 most sensitive.

Action movies banned

A strict security plan was drawn up out to maintain law and order during voting, according to the ECP.

Additional Inspector General of Karachi police Javed Alam Odho said that in addition to the police, paratroopers are on duty at the polling stations.

Police official said that no political leader would be allowed to have private shooter. According to him, CCTV cameras have been installed at very secret polling stations.
