The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) partnered with Chiliz, a company that provides blockchain solutions in the sports and entertainment industry, to launch a fan token. This cryptocurrency will be called “ITA” and can be purchased through the Socios.com application.
Five months ago, the Argentine National Team started this trend on Socios.com, as did several teams from the country, such as River Plate and Racing Club on other platforms, as reported by CriptoNoticias. Then Portugal continued and now Italy becomes the third country in the app to launch its own fan token for the football industry. The announcement was issued by FIGC, Chiliz and Socios.com on November 12.
The official date of the launch of the ITA fan token has not yet been announced, nor the starting price with the to be quoted. Although the Italian Football Federation confirmed that they will soon release all the details. Gabriele Gravina, the president of the organization, said that this initiative will strengthen the relationship with fans.
Alexandre Dreyfus, the director of Chiliz and Socios.com, stated that Italy is a world soccer powerhouse that “is synonymous with passion, determination and sporting glory” . For this reason, he confessed that they are excited to offer opportunities to approach the Azzurri – the name by which their fans are known -.
The ITA token will allow fans participate in club decision-making and test your knowledge in competitions to win benefits. These can be official products of the Italy team, free tickets to matches and VIP experiences. Through an augmented reality system, it will also be possible to “hunt” them for free.
Socios.com is not the only platform that allows you to connect soccer tokens with your fans. Another application that also provides this service is Bitsi, which is used by the team from Spain, Uruguay and Brazil.
Italy already has several fan tokens for football lovers
Italy, which this year became European Champion in soccer, had already entered the world of cryptocurrencies this year. Although it will now launch the official ITA fan token of the selection, this is not the first in the country. Several teams already had theirs, such as Juventus, Napoli, AC Milan, Inter Milan or AS Roma.
It is worth clarifying that these are not the only football clubs that launched their fan token. Teams like Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona and Manchester City also already have their own cryptocurrency. Socios.com currently has more than 1.3 million users in 167 countries and the agreement with the Italian Football Federation also allowed it to become the official sponsor of the country’s women’s team.
