ISPR confirms martyrdom of all aboard the missing army helicopter

ISLAMBAD:

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the wreckage was found in Musa Goth area of Vindar in Lasbelsky district.

In a statement on Twitter, military media the wing said “wreckage of poor devil[icopter] that was on flood facilitating the operation[erations] found in Musa Goth, Vindar, Lasbela.

“All six officers and soldiers including Lieutenant General Sarfaraz Ali hugged shahdat [martyrdom],” It added.

He claimed that the accident was due to bad weather according to initial investigations.

Commander of the 12th Corps, Lieutenant General Sarfaraz Ali, who in charge of relief operations in Balochistan. in the ill-fated helicopter, Brigadier General Amjad Hanif, Brigadier General Muhammad Khalid, Major Said Ahmed, Major M. Talha Manan and Naik Mudassar Fayyaz were martyred.

General Sarfaraz was veteran of military operations carried out during the war on terror and was awarded Tamgha Basalat twice for gallantry on in battlefield.

Major Said. pilot of ill-fated plane, was married with a son and daughter. He is from Larkana. His co-pilot, Major Muhammad Talha Manan, was married and survived two sons. Crew commander Naik Mudassir Fayyaz was native dug and eat survived his wife.

President calls COAS

President Dr. Arif Alvi summoned the chief of Army Staff General Qamar Jawed Bajwa to express his condolences for martyrs of Helicopter incident in Balochistan.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed concern over missing helicopter during his phone call with Main of Army Headquarters (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The prime minister called COAS to inquire about latest update on rescue operation of aviation helicopter, which was on flood relief operations in Lasbela Balochistan.

During a telephone conversation with General Bajwa, Prime Minister Shahbaz prayed for safe return of Commander of the 12th Corps, Lieutenant General Sarfaraz Ali, who led the rescue work.

He called Lieutenant General Ali “an outstanding professional” and “a wonderful person”.
