The previously leaked Core i9-11900KB from Intel has also been extensively tested in graphics benchmarks. This particular desktop processor is an upcoming all-in-one motherboard card over PCIe, which features Intel’s ‘Tiger Lake’ 10nm process — previously only found in laptops.
The benchmarks of the Intel Core i9-11900KB showed up in the public database of 3DMark. The eye-catching CPU card is intended to power up Intel’s new NUC 11 Extreme mini systems — the so-called ‘Beast Canyon’ line. It is likely that some Intel reviewer or insider forgot to hide the test results, giving us an early look at the Beast Canyon performance. In this case, the system turned out to have been tested with a GeForce RTX 3060 video card.
At Tom’s Hardware the benchmark results were compared against a similar system, albeit with a ‘regular’ Intel Core i9-11900K on 14nm. Both set-ups cannot be called identical, but the video card (and PCIe 4.0 support) have remained the same. The results? They don’t seem to differ very much either.
In 3DMark’s Time Spy appears to be the already released i9-11900K from the Rocket Lake generation still perform slightly higher. In the Fire Strike benchmark, it is the newer i9-11900KB (Tiger Lake) that gains just one percent on the reference material. There are few gigantic performance jumps.The results are still not comparable one-to-one. For example, we do not yet know how much power the 10nm processor card draws, let alone how efficient the integrated cooling is. Presumably the 10nm process is more powerful on paper than something similar at 14nm, but the power supply and cooling can of course put compact systems like Beast Canyon behind in these trials. The Intel Core i9-11900KB appears to only be in production as part of Intel’s heavier NUC 11 systems for now. According to Intel’s own product pages, lighter alternatives will also follow at 10nm, with fewer (active) computing cores.
