IHC cites PTI government social media laws of the National Assembly for review

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday asked the National Assembly review in rules created by PTI government relatively social media when directed to merge all related petitions.

The order was issued by IHC Chief Justice Atar Minallah during the hearing. of PPP leader Farhatullah Babar’s petition on cause.

Court also sent a notice to the chairman of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Secretaries of Department of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Information Technology.

A varied petition to repeal the laws was filed by Osama Khawar. on on behalf of of Babar on Wednesday.

Many stakeholders including ISPs of Pakistan (ISPAC) rejected rules entered through delete and lock of Illegal Online Content Rules 2020 as per Warning of Electronic Crime Act 2016
