IHC asks the interior secretary explain the travel ban on civil servant

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued notice to the interior secretary over a plea driven by Azam Khan, professional bureaucrat and former main secretary so that later-prime minister Imran Khan, against posting his name on so-called stop list.

counsel for Khan, Qasim Wadud, told the court that his client’s name was added to the flightless list in April.

“He wanted in any reported case against his”, bench asked. “Case not registered against he, he just are being politically victimized,” Wadud replied.

“Does Khan intend to travel abroad?” Judge Minallah asked. “Yes, he knows and has already guaranteed vacation [from the government]Wadud said.

The court adjourned further consideration of case until 10:00 am Wednesday.

In his plea the Khan challenged decision of posting his name on in list and asked the court to set aside decision.

“The appointment of a name on stop list is illegal and a violation of relevant court orders,” Khan said. “I was looking for holidays for travel abroad and my vacation from August 25 to September 25 was approved,” he said.

“After my vacation, I came to know what my name was added to stop list again”.
