I told the army that I would side with Imran Khan: Sheikh Rashid

ISLAMABAD: Former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Monday said that for in first time in his political career, he told the army that he had decided side with Imran Khan.

Speaking with Dawn, veteran the politician said he also supports the army, adding that he believes military “an integral part of of Pakistan.”

Moult light on in current political environment of country, Rashid said he supported Imran Khan side.

“Imran Khan is not going to give up his demand for elections. He turns into Bhutto-like figure, he said. – While I good connections with army, I will still stand with imran khan how i cant double- cross it.

He also said that he foresees Imran Khan’s election with a clear victory. “And if he works hard to win over in people of Sindh, this province will also support PTI”.

Rashid went on say he can’t go against wishes of Imran Khan and resigned just because of his.

“Am I win or lose, my devotion will be remain with Khan.”

When asked about his imprisonment, Rashid said that jail is an just like his Susraal.

“I’m not even going demand bail, if [the government] throws me behind bars,” he said.

Commenting on an accident that took place at the mosque Masjid-e-Nabawi (peace be upon him) in Medina when a group of alleged PTI supporters chanted slogans on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his delegation during his recently concluded visit to Saudi Arabia, Rashid said such incidents would happen again.

“These people [members of the incumbent government] will be humiliated wherever they go and will be scattered with tear gas and baton”, ex-internal minister said.

Scolding leadership of other parties, he said: “Nothing will of PML-N while Zardari is big impostor. However, the teaching staff does not even have 11 seats. in Punjab Assembly”.

Rashid also claimed that there were two factions in PML-N.

“One of The factions were unhappy and kept a low profile despite having recently been injured, while the other faction [made its way to power chambers] through sycophancy.”
