Number of homes were evacuated after a massive fire in center of hebden bridge in West Yorkshire.
About 80 firefighters were engaged in extinguishing the fire. fire that started in La Perla restaurant in Burlees House shortly after 2 am.
The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said 12 people were evacuated from nearby area and these buildings either side of in restaurant managed to save.
The mayor’s office opened its doors to all those affected by the incident, and social workers were set up. Calderdale Council also asked people to avoid city center. In a tweet, the council said: “Please avoid Downtown Hebden Bridge area Until further notice, several roads are closed due to a major fire. We have officers and wardens in in area”.
Calder Valley MP Craig Whittaker responded to the incident. news, saying: “Sad to see this iconic windmill go up in flame at night. Fortunately, there were no casualties. City center currently closed off as well as people life in city center of Hebden Bridge recommended to keep windows and the doors are closed.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service added that the four properties are either side of in building were involved in Incident.
AT updated at 8:20 they wrote on social media: “6 rescue teams are now in place plus 1 gangway. The locals asked avoid area. All faces counted for. Crews remain solution fire”.
