Travelers returning to the UK at the end of half-term holiday – and those who try to leave – faced one more day of crashes and long delays on Saturday.

25 departures and 22 arrivals from Gatwick Airport were cancelled, affecting at least 7,000 passengers.

A spokesman for Gatwick said the breach was in most of them did not leave because of departures, so they could not return.

“Poor weather across Europe means air traffic control restrictions introduced on airspace over the continent,” they said.

“It causes delays and is reason for a little of cancellation. This will affect many UK airports.”

Overwhelming majority of cancellations from Gatwick were on Saturday including easyJet flights to and from Amsterdam, Milan, Nice and Seville. British Airways and Wizz Air flights also realized it was cancelled.

The press service said that there were no significant queues at the airport.

At Bristol Airport, where passengers were photographed on Friday is waiting in queues described as horrendous, easyJet has canceled flights to Berlin, Biarritz, Nice and Prague, reports the Independent. The carrier had previously said it had canceled at least 30 flights. on Saturday.

The representative said on Saturday: “EasyJet will make about 1,700 flights from quarter of million customers every day over in bank holiday weekend, with a small proportion canceled in in advance or last week or night and [customers] informed of them options rebook or get a refund.

“Airlines continue to fulfill in difficult environment including with air traffic control restrictions operating today at London Gatwick and editions with ground operations at several airports, including in Amsterdam, where the airport has asked airlines to cancel some flights today.

“As a result small proportion of additional flights may be disrupted today.

“We fully understand the inconvenience this will have. caused our customers and we are very sorry for this is.”

Pregnant traveler Faye Osmund-Smith said she and her family booked tickets through Tui but were left stuck at Gatwick airport on Saturday “with no updates other than canceling our flight 14 minutes before check in.in”.

She said on Saturday: I travel with my partner, two 12-year-old, 16- and 17-year- old and I am 21 weeks pregnant.

“We were supposed to fly from Gatwick to Agadir. [in Morocco] today at 15.05. Check-in was supposed to open at 12.

“At 11:50 we received an email with the message us flight was cancelled. EasyJet staff in the airport was not interested in help and just said us call Tui. The airport was in chaos. Somewhere to sit and eat locations limited.

“We weren’t able to talk to anyone in Tuya all day. We jumped on train to Luton, where we are now. We booked a hotel here and will try to fly out to Agadir tomorrow at 7 am, but we are not hopeful. At the moment we have incurred expenses of about 1000 pounds.”

Airlines are required to provide an alternative flight on same day in in event of cancellation including payment for flight with another airline if needed, but availability is extremely limited, resulting in many passengers getting stuck or facing long delays.

Railway passengers warned of significant disruption to service over weekend because of strike and engineering work.

Members of railroad, marine and transport workers union walked out in old dispute with control on the TransPennine Express line over to pay.

TPE urged people don’t travel on Saturday or Sunday. He said he would work on a modified schedule. on both days with very limited service available for those who make important journeys.

Travelers returning to the UK from France have been advised of big traffic jam in and around French ports of Dunkirk and Calais.

Passengers travel via Dunkirk was ordered allow at least two hours to complete border control and check-in although traffic from Dover is proceeding as usual.

DFDS Seaways tweeted: “Roads in around Dunkirk/Calais is extremely busy. Please allow extra time to get to each port.”
