Families of victims of The 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting rejected a settlement offer from Infowars host Alex Jones, whom they accused of slandering them, claiming that murders never really took place.

Jones had on Tuesday offered everyone of 13 plaintiffs estimated amount of $120,000, court filings say. “Mr Jones sincerely apologizes for any upset of his remarks caused”, the proposals say.

Lawyers for relatives filed a motion to reject Jones’ proposals on Wednesday, with the application calls them “a transparent and desperate attempt by Alex Jones escape but public settlement under oath with its deceitful, profit oriented campaign against plaintiffs and memory of their loved ones died at Sandy Hook.”

Jones, a far-right conspiracy theorist, has baselessly claimed that the shooting was a “giant hoax” staged with “actors of the crisis” support opposition to the Second Amendment. twenty-year- old shooter killed six adults and 20 first-class students in tragedy at school in Newtown, Connecticut.

Jones later confessed in sworn testimony that the shooting actually took place and argued that “form of psychosis” led him to believe and advertise his false theories about it.

In November, a Connecticut judge found Jones is responsible by default for damage when he refused to turn over certificate. That amount he should pay has not been determined.

Jones last week failed to appear for his testimony is ordered by the court, claiming that he is ill. However, Judge Barbara Bellis declined to acquit him, noting complaints from relatives that Jones was healthy enough to appear in court. on his live show in the day before.

Jones also will appear in court later year over individual defamation claims in Texas filed by families of victims Sandy Hook, for which he has also was found responsible for damage.

Lawyers for Jones did not immediately respond to an Insider inquiry. for comment.
