An extremely strong heat wave is likely to sweep the Sindh plains from May 11 or 12, during which mercury can reach as high as 50 degrees Celsius. in Some parts of provinces, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) officials have warned on Sunday talking maximum temperature in Karachi during a heat wave also exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
“The prevailing strong heat wave over central and upper Sindh will take over all of Sindh from May 11 or 12, 2022 and may last until May 16, 2022 Daytime maximum temperature will rise up to 46-48 degrees Celsius in Dadu, Sukkur, Larkana, Jakobabad, Shahid Benazirabad, Naushehro Feroz, Khairpur, Shikarpur and Gotki districts,” said Sindh Chief Meteorologist Dr. Sardar Sarfraz.
He claimed that during this period maximum temperature is likely remain 43 to 45 degrees Celsius in Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta, Mirpurkhas and Umerkot districts.
He said Karachi maximum temperature can also rise up to 40 degrees Celsius or higher between May 12 and May 14, he said, adding that possible blows of this extreme heat result in damaging effects for crops and orchards. Farmers are advised to monitor crops until common people recommended avoid exposure to the sun for as long as possible especially at peak heat hours he said.
