If we put this figure in perspective, Today ether is worth the same price as bitcoin five years ago, precisely, in 2017. Since then, bitcoin has managed to increase its value by more than 1,300% and consolidate in recent weeks, as CriptoNoticias reported.
Ether grew more than bitcoin in 2021
During the year, ether has remained above bitcoin, with respect to its price increase. It has achieved 415% higher growth. So far in 2021, bitcoin, the most expensive cryptocurrency on the market, has had a 125% increase in value. At this moment it is worth USD 64,757, according to the CriptoNoticias calculator.
However, the market capitalization of ether is less than that of bitcoin. It is precisely 560 billion dollars, while the leading cryptocurrency in value has 1.2 trillion dollars, according to data from CoinGecko. Regarding the total cryptocurrency market, the dominance of ether represents 18.61% and that of bitcoin 41.44%.
The current market capitalization of ether is exactly the same as that of the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem eleven months ago when 2020 ended. Today the global value is 3 trillion of dollars, that is, it has increased by 500% this year. This shows the growing interest in the ecosystem of these assets.
