The COVID-19 pandemic brought the entertainment industry across the globe to a standstill. So, the channels decided to bring in the old TV shows that were a hit amongst the masses. From Mythological TV shows to romance-dramas, comedy-dramas and more were brought back on TV and the TRPs peaked like never before. So, in this year’s edition of the BollywoodLife.com Awards, we have introduced the Best Comeback show category in Television. Mahabharat

The 2013’s Mahabharat re-aired during the pandemic. It was one of the most-watched TV-shows and the TRP was ever high during that time. Based on the epic Hindu mythology, Mahabharat told the tale of the epic battle between Pandavas and Kauravas. The Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Mahabharat starred Saurabh Raaj Jain, Shaheer Sheikh, Pooja Sharma, Aham Sharma, Arpit Ranka, Arav Chowdhary, Praneet Bhat, Thakur Anoop Singh, Saurav Gurjar, Rohit Bhardwaj, Shafaq Naaz, Nissar Khan, Vin Rana, Lavanya Bhardwaj and Nirbhay Wadhwa to name a few. Ramayan

Ramayana is another epic Hindu mythology show based on ancient Indian Sanskrit scripture of the same name. 1987’s Ramayan re-aired on television during the pandemic time. It broke the TRP records and become one of the most-watched Indian TV shows in pandemic times. It essentially starred Arun Govil, Deepika Chikhalia, Sunil Lahri, Arvind Trivedi and Dara Singh in the lead alongside various stunning actors. Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi

Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi is one of the most popular TV shows that first aired in 2016. During the pandemic times, the audience got to revisit Dev and Sonakshi Bose’s love story. It is still popular for its realistic take on relationships. Dev and Sonakshi are polar opposites, however, they cannot deny the spark between them. It essentially covers their love story but also chances upon how their relationship affects Dev’s bond with his mother and other family members. Shaheer Sheikh played the role of Dev while Erica Fernandes played the role of Sonakshi Bose. Shaheer and Erica’s chemistry was loved by the audience.

Pavitra Rishta

Pavitra Rishta was one of the biggest hits by Balaji Telefilms aka Ekta Kapoor. It starred Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande as Manav and Archana. Pavitra Rishta was a love story of Manav and Archana, two middle-class individuals who are tied together by fate. Their wedding is fixed by the elderlies but there happens to be some misunderstanding between the families. However, they still get married and eventually fall in love. How they overcome differences and obstacles in their married life form the crux of the story. Sushant and Ankita became household names after the show.

Cirkus

Cirkus told the tale of the lives of the artists working in the circus troupe. It featured Shah Rukh Khan in the lead alongside Renuka Shahane, Haidar Ali, Pavan Malhotra, Ashutosh Gowariker, Makrand Deshpande, Neeraj Vohra to name a few. Shah Rukh played the role of Shekharan who returns to India to follow his dream of setting up a factory with his friend. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, Shekharan has to manage a circus troupe, founded by his father, 25-years ago. Cirkus follows the lives of the artists of the troupe, unraveling different shades of characters, as they struggle with the tricky yet very realistic situations, life throws on them.

Shrikant

Based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyaya’s four-volume novel, Srikanta, it tells the tale of a vagabond, Shrikant and his many adventures. He meets Raj Lakshmi, Abhaya, and others who become a part of their story. Directed by Pravin Nischol, Shrikant starred Irrfan Khan, Ashwini Bhave, Mrinal Kulkarni, Sujata Mehta and Farooq Shaikh to name a few.
