Edinburgh weather: Cars trapped due to severe flooding on busy granton junction

A photo show a car and the taxi sank in water covering tires and license plate stuck in middle of crossroads of Ferry Road and West Granton Access Road on Friday morning (November 18). Pictures show severe flooding, which is almost on top of buttons for pillars for pedestrian crossings.

In the video shows a truck and the cyclist both approach the junction from Granton and then make a U-turn as soon as they notice the conditions of road. The road is currently closed due to flooding in both directions between Telford Road at the Crewe Toll roundabout and West Granton Access.

Due to severe flooding, the road is likely to remain closed for for a while, confirmed the advice.

AT update on Edinburgh Travel News reported that the junction was impassable. for vehicles and pedestrians, access to the red bridge remains open on both sides.

Helen Todd, a local resident, said: “I lived in in area since 2009 and have never seen a flood here like this is. For me it real warning that the climate is changing. it shows view of it will have an impact on our daily lives if we don’t act now and accept this issue Seriously.”

It happens after drivers were called to stay off roads as heavy rain and flooding wreak havoc on road and rail networks. The flood caused destruction on roads and railways as heavy rain floods some areas.

BUT yellow warning is in place for most of of east scotland until 18:00 on Friday. Authorities said the rain would make driving difficult. with potential for reduced visibility and surface water, and conditions that may affect travel on both main road and railway network.
