Solar Ash

December 2 – PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC

In 2016, Heart Machine released Hyper Light Drifter, an underrated, Zelda-esque indie game with a melancholic vibe. Spiritual successor Solar Ash is a completely different game in that respect, which exchanges the beautiful pixel art for three-dimensional graphics and focuses on the ‘flow’ of platforms. As a female drifter ‘slide’, players jump and soar through the Ultravoid, which jerks planets out of orbit and attracts grotesque monsters. Furthermore, the game raises many questions, such as who the divine entities in the world actually are and what is going on at all. Just the way we like it from a Heart Machine game.

  • Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker

    December 7 – PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC

With over 23 million players, Final Fantasy 14 is the most successful installment in the franchise. Many players do not hide that they have left World of Warcraft to discover Square Enix’ mmo, including the expansions. Endwalker, the fourth expansion, promises to bring the current storyline to a spectacular conclusion. By recruiting allies in new areas such as the town of Radz-at-Han and the new player hub Old Sharlayan, players try to resist the impending doom. As usual, the game also gets a ton of new content, such as the Sage and Reaper classes, new raids and a level cap of 90.

  • Halo Infinite

    the first four hours

we can say that Infinite is ambitious is, with large environments offering plenty of side activities and fun gadgets that make Master Chief more versatile than ever. Especially in combination with the mysterious story surrounding the new AI called The Weapon, and the incredibly smooth multiplayer mode, Halo Infinite could easily become the best shooter of the fall. Whether it will also be the franchise’s big comeback, however, remains to be seen.

    The Gunk

December 16 – Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC

Steamworld creators Image & Form Games are leaving the two-dimensional titles behind for The Gunk. In it, protagonists Rani and Beck encounter a beautiful planet that is ravaged by a mysterious substance: gunk. By sucking out the black drap, the ecosystem is slowly but surely recovering and players learn more about extinct societies and the history of the planet. While platforming and fighting monsters are certainly part of the gameplay, The Gunk seems to revolve around seeing the planet recover, and the moral dilemmas that come with precious nature.
