Coronavirus: Masks handed out at ‘biggest ever’ Fourth of July White House fireworks – after record rise in cases

Donald Trump is hosting the biggest Fourth of July firework display screen “in recent memory” this weekend – in spite of a record rise in United States coronaviruscases

Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser does not have the power to close down the event since it is being hung on White House premises.

However he declares the yearly event is not in keeping with present state COVID-19 standards.

White House authorities will hand out 300,000 facemasks for anybody who wishes to participate in the event – however nobody will be required to use them by law, according to White House spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany.

She stated that while face coverings are “likely” to lower the spread of coronavirus, they are “not mandatory in themselves”.

Interior Secretary David Bernhardt assured a “one-of-a-kind air show”, including a mile- long shooting of 100,000 fireworks – the biggest display screen in “recent memory”, he stated.

The news of this weekend’s event on the National Shopping center comes after the United States reported its greatest single- day boost in brand-new infection cases – 50,700

The worrying spike in cases saw California guv Gavin Newsom closed down bars, movie theaters and indoor restaurant dining throughout many of the state simply ahead of the Self-reliance Day weekend.

Florida, Arizona and Texas are likewise being struck hard with the hazard of another lockdown looming.

However Mr Trump continues to recommend the United States is on top of the pandemic.

He informed Fox News: “I think we are going to be very good with the coronavirus. I think that, at some point, that’s going to sort of just disappear, I hope.”

Mr Trump and first woman Melania are hosting the military show over the White House south yard on Saturday, the day after they participate in a different firework display screen and public event in Mount Rushmore, South Dakota.
