COAS Asim Munir appoint new DG ISPR: military sources

ISLAMABAD: In first major reshuffles in military top management, chief of General of the Army Staff (COAS) Asim Munir is likely to appoint Major General Ahmed Sharif as CEO. of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG-ISPR), while Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar is likely to receive key slot of Corps Commander Karachi.

Retired from previous officer appointments of main-general rank will command DG ISPR post while the previous two officers were posted like a lieutenant general.

Major General Ahmed Sharif is from the Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) who will replace Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar who most likely will posted as commander of the 5th Corps (Karachi Corps). General Babar Iftikhar replaced Lieutenant General Mohammed Saeed as Commander of the Karachi Corps. who was posted like a boss of General Staff (GSh).

Major General Ahmed Sharif of EME Corps formerly served in Military Operations Headquarters (MO) and also served in Military Intelligence (MI). His latest the appointment was as Director General of the Defense Science and Technology Organization (DESTO).

DESTO, which is administered by the Ministry of Defense (MoD) is a covert agency specializing in in scientific and technical research and development of weapons systems in fields of aerodynamics, propulsion, fuel and avionics.

However, the military media wing, ISPR, still to be done official announcement regarding appointment of in new DG.

this is worth pointing out that it is not first the time when the engineer was selected as the DG of ISPR; however, Major General Sharif will first one from the EME case to lead in the military media wing. Formerly Major General Jehangir Nasrullah of the Corps of Engineers served in DG ISPR in 1991.
