Braces Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for local body elections tomorrow

Local body elections set accept place tomorrow (Thursday) in 18 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Abbottabad, Mansehra, Swat and Malakand.

Election Committee of Pakistan (ECP) completes all preparations for holding free, transparent and peaceful elections for in second phase of surveys of local authorities.

More than eight million registered voters are expected to exercise their right to vote in these areas on Thursday, according to the provincial election commission.

BUT total of 8,057,974 registered voters (men 4,489,771 and women 3,567,703) all set elect mayors and chairmen in 65 techsils and candidates for different places of 1830 village and district councils.

Elections to local bodies in in second phase are held in Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Torgar, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kolai Palace, Swat, Malakand, Shangla, Lower and Upper Dir, Upper and Lower Chitral, Kurram, Orakzai, North and South Waziristan.

There are 561 candidates in total. in in run for 65 tehsil places, 12,980 places for general seats, 2668 for women seats, 6451 for places for farmers / workers, 5,213 places for seats for youth and 57 seats for minorities.

Similarly, 351 candidates were elected unopposed on general seats, 533 candidates on women places, 233 places for youth, 50 places for minorities and 151 places for workers/farmers.

ESP has set up 6,176 polling stations, including 1,246 for men, 1164 for women and 3766 combined for assistance of voters.

Similarly, 16,509 voting booths, including 9,218 for men and 7 291 for females also created to facilitate voters, including young and female voters.

outside of These polling stations, 1646 are declared the most secret and 2326 are classified, so carefully considered security measures made.

Strong security measures have been made for in second phase of local elections.

At the same time, voters are strictly prohibited from carrying weapons and ammunition at polling stations.

The most important polling stations will be monitored by CCTV cameras.

The Electoral Commission organized series of awareness raising workshops with help of press clubs and media mobilize voters for local government elections.

Elections campaign will formally end today at midnight (00:00), after which no candidate will be allowed to speak public meetings or demonstrations.

Under control of Deputy Director of Local Government Elections Muhammad Nasir Khan and Assistant Director Mustafa Jalal, the control room was set up in office of Commissioner for Elections of Peshawar Province for fast resolution of election-related complaints.
