BART reports technical problems on day of Warrior Parade

Onslaught of people took BART on Monday to get to San Francisco for Parade of warriors, as a result in long lines in ticket kiosks and limited cell service at stations.

The transit agency called people take the train to avoid long ticket lines by adding Clipper card app on their phones and immediately adding funds. BART also advised people to download Appendix in areas away from stations for better cellular communication.

“Some trains will be Orange Line trains (Richmond to Berryess) and some trains will be Red Line trains (Richmond-Millbrae + SFO),” BART said.

BART added: “Transbay passengers without direct service can expect a timed transfer between the Orange Line train (Berryessa) and the Yellow Line train (SF/SFO) to San Francisco at MacArthur Station, as well as a synchronized transfer between the Yellow Line train (Antioch ) and by train. Orange Line (Richmond) train from San Francisco to Station 19 St. Oakland. A block train will run between Milbrae and San Francisco to connect with the Yellow Line train (Antioch-SFO).”

BART first experienced problems on Red line on Friday due power cable failure. Over the weekend, the Red Line was completely canceled and only Orange Line trains (Richmond to Berryess) ran.

BART said crews are working on identification location of cable failure and after that complete, they will replace the cable. While issue similar to what caused train cancellation in March 2022, error on different location along the Richmond line, BART said.

“BART is working on replacing all of the aging cables on the 10 mile Richmond Line and unfortunately these problems happened before full replacement has been achieved,” BART said.
