Audi of America appoints Emilie Cotter as Head of Brand Marketing and Communications

Audi of America has announced the appointment of Emilie Cotter as the new Head of Brand Marketing and Communications. Cotter, who previously served as the Chief Communications Officer, will now oversee both functions in an integrated role.

In her new position, Cotter, 43, will be responsible for developing and implementing brand strategies, as well as managing marketing and communications for the premium brand in the U.S. The reorganization aims to enhance collaboration and focus on the customer, supporting Audi’s ambitious growth plans.

“This restructure comes at a critical inflection point in the U.S. for Audi and the automotive industry,” said Daniel Weissland, President of Audi of America. “Emilie’s strong leadership will drive innovative brand strategies, enhance collaboration, and put a laser focus on the customer as we continue our ambitious growth.”

Emilie Cotter’s Background and Experience

Prior to joining Audi, Emilie Cotter held various roles in public relations and marketing. She served as the Head of Public Relations and Marketing at Marketplace, a nonprofit news organization focused on economy and business topics. Cotter also worked as a Senior Vice President at FleishmanHillard, a St. Louis-based public relations and marketing agency, from 2012 to 2017. Additionally, she gained experience in corporate and brand communication as the Director at Lucasfilm, a film and TV production company, from 2008 to 2012.

In May 2021, Cotter was appointed as the Chief Communications Officer for Audi of America, overseeing brand, lifestyle, product, and corporate communications. In the recent reorganization, Cotter will relinquish the Chief Communications Officer title but will continue to be responsible for all external-facing communication. Internal communications functions will be handled by other team members.

Emilie Cotter takes over the role of Chief Marketing Officer from Tara Rush, who left Audi of America in July. Rush, who joined the automaker in 2019 from Heineken USA, was promoted to CMO in November 2020.
