According to a Nevada sheriff’s report that CNN could get, Jeremy Renner was attempting to save his nephew on New Year’s Day when he was involved in a snowplow accident that almost claimed his life. When his nephew was dragged under the tractor and killed, the Hawkeye actor tried to avert the situation by breaking it.
When the snowplow unexpectedly began to drift sideways, Renner claimed to be pulling his nephew’s truck out of the snow with the aid of his snowcat vehicle. Then, the actor got out of the car to stop the machine.
The report states that the man “realized it was heading directly at (his nephew) once he was off the Pistenbully.” He decided to try and halt or reroute the Pistenbully since he thought it would hit his nephew.
Renner had to board the snowplow’s moving track to return to the cab. According to the report, he was “quickly pushed under the left side track” when he tried to climb up. It’s also crucial to remember that the snowcat’s parking brake was not applied.
Although the Pistenbully had certain mechanical problems, our mechanical assessment led us to assume that the parking brake would prevent the Pistenbully from driving forward, according to the report. “Renner was pushed beneath the vehicle by the track and driven over when he tried to stop or deflect the Pistenbully to prevent injury to (his nephew).”
A broken brake indicator light was cited in the study as evidence that “mechanical issues may have played a cause in this tragedy.”
However, the fact that Renner’s nephew was present was eventually advantageous since he could assist the actor until assistance arrived. Renner was then flown to the hospital, where he received treatment in the intensive care unit and underwent at least two procedures.
Though he has returned home, Renner is still recovering from the collision. He thanked his followers on Twitter for their love and support while admitting that the incident resulted in him breaking “30 plus” bones.
