Security camera video obtained by CNN shows a man enters Norco Market & Liquor store and pointing the rifle at the owner behind counter. The owner then reaches for firearm and shoots the suspect.
The sheriff’s department said the owner fired one round from a shotgun, which caused suspect to flee.
“Lawfully armed member of our community prevented violent crime and ensured their own safety in a collision with several armed suspects,” the department said.
Owner, who not want be identified to protect his privacy, told CNN he saw a gunman approaching store moments before he entered.
CCTV footage outside in store shows another armed man get out of parked SUV and move to store just in front of a wounded suspect runs back to the vehicle apparently shouting “he shot me through the arm off.”
The authorities said one the suspect was later found in a Southern California hospital with an apparent gunshot wound. He remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition, the Sheriff’s Department said, noting that he would be transferred to jail after release from treatment.
Three others people in SUV was arrested and booked on Robbery and conspiracy charges, the department said, adding that authorities found several stolen firearm inside stolen vehicle.
They were held accountable in court Wednesday and entered the requests of innocent, representative for Riverside County District Attorney told CNN.
